Embrace the Shadows
Looking behind you, feeling the shame crawl on your back.
Constantly reminding you that there's something you lack.
I once believed shadows were demons waiting to rip me apart,
Knowing the darkest corners of your blackened and torrid heart.
The most powerful entity is the shadow behind where you sit,
Revealed by the small candle in the room where you lit.
On a canvass filled with reminders of our tattered past,
We seek a million candles to make the warmth of the light last.
But the sun always sets and the flame will eventually die,
Like children afraid of the darkness, we are left to cry.
Fear of the dark and needing to know what lies ahead of me,
Ironically, in darkness I became aware and was actually able to see.
The guiding light shines from deep in our soul,
Even when its the light that the devil stole.
Your inner strength is like a million candles burning bright,
Carrying you through the most darkest of nights.
Remember the angels who'll take you by the hand,
Ensuring your safety wherever it is you land.
Revealing your beauty and erasing all that's untrue,
Until you finally love unconditionally all the light that burns in you.
