The 3rd Annual Bipolar Babe Benefit

This is the third year in a row that we have created awesomeness!  Upon reflection, this year was the best one yet.  I am still glowing with happiness and gratitude.  I am thankful for all my friends who came together to make this night magnificent.  From make-up artists, models, singers, comedians, MCs, a great DJ and countless others made this night magical. The one development that I felt was impacting was the amount of youth that attended, thanks to a young lady named Sam Stringer.  She calls me a hero, I call her fabulous.  She rallied the youth from Esquimalt school and ensured to get as many of her friends out as possible to a celebration that invokes acceptance, empathy and understanding for those with a mental health condition.

I have a good life, a great life actually, and even though I have my ups and downs, disappointments and triumphs - we all do.  I am content in knowing that I am made the way that I am and I am perfect as God made me.  A mental illness is not defining, really it is not even a big deal to me anymore.  However, it really was when I was sick and needed support.  It is so vital that we are there for our loved ones and for those in society as a whole who have a mental health condition. 

After all is said and done, I think about my mother.  How strong she was to survive all these years and has now found peace in a support sytem that carries her through.  I cherish my step father that loves her endlessly and accepts her as she is - totally and completley.  I desire the same in a partner.  :)  My entire family means the world to me and I am lucky to be surrounded with so much love. 

Well, I am anticipating what next year will being.  We want to switch it up a little!  I don't want to say too much as that will just have to be a surprise!
